The client.
The Good Homecare Co. is a family-run business in Lightwater, Surrey. David and Lisa started it as The Good Oven Cleaning Company, doing one thing well: taking ovens apart and bringing them back to near-showroom condition. Over the years they added carpet and upholstery cleaning, then domestic appliance repair, for which David is City & Guilds assured. They cover Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire, from Guildford and Woking out to Basingstoke and Farnborough.
They’re a two person team with a reputation that outstrips their size: over 150 five-star reviews and a 4.9 rating. I’ve worked with them for seven years and built both of their websites.
The business had outgrown its own name. “The Good Oven Cleaning Company” was turning away carpet and repair enquiries before anyone had picked up the phone, and the first website, built around that name, could only tell one third of the story. And every job was still booked by phone, which for two people who spend the day in other people’s kitchens meant missed calls, evening callbacks and a diary kept in a notebook.
A new name with room to grow.
The Good Oven Cleaning Company became The Good Homecare Co. It keeps the word people already trusted, “Good”, and the familiar shape of the name, while making space for everything they do now and anything they add next. The old addresses redirect to the new ones, so seven years of search rankings and shared links came with them.
Built around how people search.
The new site was planned from the search results backwards. Nobody looks for “home care”; they look for “oven cleaning Camberley” or “carpet cleaner near me” or “washing machine repair Fleet”. So each service has its own page that answers the questions people actually type: what’s included, how long it takes, what it’s likely to cost, which towns are covered. Area pages, structured data and fast pages do the rest.
The tone is theirs: plain, friendly, no hard sell. The reviews do the selling, pulled through live so the site is never showing last year’s praise.
The site today.

Booking that prices the job as you build it.
The centrepiece is an online booking system that handles the awkward part of a cleaning business: no two jobs are the same size.
A customer picks a service, then the system asks the right follow-up questions for that service and only that service. Ovens by type and configuration, with hobs, extractors and microwaves as add-ons. Carpets by the number of bedrooms, with stairs, landings and rugs as extras. Upholstery by the sofa, with armchairs and footstools added on. The price updates as they go, so there’s a number on screen before they commit and no surprise on the day.
Then a date and time from the real diary, their details, any notes, and it’s booked. The terms are agreed as part of the flow rather than discovered later.
A diary they run themselves.
Behind the booking form is a system David and Lisa manage without me. Services, prices and add-ons are theirs to change. Availability is theirs to set. Bookings arrive with everything needed to do the job, and confirmations go to the customer automatically. When appliance repair was added, it went into the booking system the same way, without a rebuild.
The site runs on my own infrastructure, with nightly backups, monitoring and updates, and email on their own domain. Seven years on, the direct line is the same one it’s always been.
Over 2,500 jobs have now been booked online, priced accurately, with the diary filling itself while David and Lisa are out working. The search-led rebuild put them in front of people looking for each of their three services, not just the one in the old name, and they’re busier than they have ever been. A business that started with ovens now sells three services under a name that fits, and the website has grown with it twice without starting again.

All costs were agreed in advance and clearly itemised with different packages offered. All in all, it has been a smooth and easy process and we would highly recommend Mike for anyone wishing to create or update their website.
