About me

A bit about me and how I work.

Freelance designer based in Woking with a decade of experience, a love for all things Star Trek, and an obsession with getting things done right.

Freelance WordPress web design & Brand Identity | Mike Overton Design

I'm Mike Overton, a freelance designer based in Woking, Surrey. For over 10 years, I've been helping clients build websites and brands that actually work, from startups finding their feet to established names like Deavesons Jewellers and Silk and Reed.

I specialise in custom WordPress sites built with Elementor, complete brand identities, and all the design work that goes with them: graphics, videos, print materials, the lot. What sets me apart isn't just the work itself, it's how I work. Clear communication, realistic timelines, and no disappearing acts. You get agency-quality results without the agency price tag or the unreliable freelancer experience.

Outside of client work, I'm a massive Trekkie. I create Star Trek UI wallpapers, compose music, follow motorsport, and co-host the Clonestar Podcast where I handle all the design and get to combine two things I love: Star Trek and creative problem-solving. I'm also weirdly fascinated by sharks and space, which probably says something about me.

These hobbies aren't just side projects. They keep my creative brain firing and remind me why I love design in the first place. Whether I'm building a website or designing a fictional spaceship interface, it's all about solving problems creatively and making things that work beautifully.
